Everything You Need To Know

Jungle Water is an amazing study abroad program unveiled by the Christopher Robert Project. Get unprecedented access to remote tribal villages and experience by learning the inner-workings of a small, busy foreign relief organization. You will live, study and work in two locations.

Your time will be split between our state of the art campus, construction facility and remote jungle villages. You'll work with a small team in the area of your choice and select your own projects. We encourage everybody to participate in village field work.

A Jungle Water study abroad 11 week session allows you to tap into your creative juices and personal knowledge base to solve problems and educate underserved villages on a variety of public health issues.

If a student refers another student, both will receive a $200 travel grant for independent travel during the intern's 11th week.

Other sources of funding include:

University Funding
The first place you should look is your university. Many universities offer travel grants for students who intern abroad. This may depend on your course or year of study, but many universities have grants available to everyone. You should speak to your advisor, career center and look online for more information.

Third Party Funding (sites with searchable databases)
International Education Financial Aid: Financial Aid College Scholarship Search

NAFSA, U.S. Study Abroad Scholarships and Grants List has over 10,000 members worldwide and is the leading organization committed to international education and exchange.

Creative Ingenuity
Sometimes students raise tuition themselves through family or even a social media campaign like GoFundMe. This has been successful for many students in other programs.

Jungle Water internships are unpaid. Because we work with many of the top universities, the majority of interns will receive academic credit.  It is the relevant work experience you gain that will aid you when searching for your ideal career. This program is an investment in your future!

Chiang Mai is a really cool city with plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants. It's a very popular western backpacker tourist destination so you'll guaranteed to be enjoying it with plenty of new friends. If you have never been to Asia it really is an amazing place, something you've never experienced before. One wrong turn on a motorbike and you're quickly reminded that you're a stranger in a strange land but the wonderful thing about Chiang Mai is there are enough western influences to give you a good comfort level.

Starbucks? You bet. McDonalds, Burger King, yep. Ex-pat BBQ and every other kind of food you can think of? Of course. There's also a 7-11 every 20 yards for anything you might need to survive and a lot of things you've never seen before. There are plenty of activities for you in Chiang Mai and the surrounding area There are elephant sanctuaries, bamboo river rafting, waterfalls and hot springs all nearby and reasonably priced.

Jungle Water is located fifteen minutes outside the city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. We all know Thailand is known for being hot and humid (you'll have A/C and hot showers) but some months can get pretty cold. Pictures say a lot so here are charts showing average temps and the average number of rainy days in a month. Don't let the rain scare you, it's warm and can be a lot of fun!

Yes, you'll want to bring your cell phone for pictures, social media and staying in touch with other program participants. Local SIM cards and pay as you go plans are cheap and easy to find, but you will need to make sure your phone is UNLOCKED by your current provider before you get to Thailand. Many providers now lock their phones and if a phone is locked you will not be able to put a local SIM card in it. Getting a phone unlocked is easy and free here in the states but impossible to do from overseas.
